Facing COVID-19 - A practical guide for self management

FACING COVID-19

A PRACTICAL GUIDE ON HOW TO PERSONALLY MANAGE YOURSELF DURING THE CRISIS

Everyone is experiencing varying amounts of stress right now, and many are saying COVID-19 is the WW3 of our time. When you think about the gravity of this situation as it unfolds, I am realising that our children's, children will look back on this event and learn about it at school. And it's heavy, we all know that it will pass, but right now its pretty damn scary and seemingly no one is immune to what is going on in.

Many people I know are struggling to cope with fear and anxiety. With a lack of certainty comes stress and we are being constantly bombarded with information, news, data and stories around COVID-19, which in itself is not at all healthy for anyone.

What people need right now, is support and guidance on how to manage themselves in a crisis situation. For many people they have never ever experienced such levels of stress. The worst is yet to come, and a colleague recently shared this amazing video with me and I felt compelled to share it with our community.

It's all about "How To Respond Effectively To The Corona Crisis."

In this brief animation, Dr Russ Harris, author of the international best-seller The Happiness Trap, illustrates how to use ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) to deal with the Corona crisis and the fear, anxiety and worry that goes with it.

Stay safe people, a great way to reframe this is to see this as a wonderful opportunity to connect with your families and loved ones. Sit back, breathe and take time to reflect on what is really important to you, what do you value and what lessons can you learn from this situation.

Look after yourselves people and just so you know we are still working and are ready to help you with anything you need. Even if it's just someone to have a laugh (or cry) with.

Best regards

Emily and Jessy.
